Meditation And Why It Is Crucial To Your Business Success

When I heard the word “meditation” I immediately thought of a guru sitting cross legged, eyes tightly closed, hands on their knees and humming.

Then my sister gave me some meditation audios that I tried listening to, but mostly I got irritated with the speakers voice and just couldn’t relax enough to enter the “meditation state”.  Or got SO relaxed that I simply fell asleep.

But they say that meditation is NOT sleeping – it’s a special state where you empty your head completely and reach another level of conscienceness.

I had this idea about meditation that it was only for certain people, believers in some sort of religion. That was not me really.

But I also heard that meditation is a MUST and closely related to awareness, belief and mindset.

So what to do, now that I couldn’t get myself to meditate or just fell to sleep when trying..??

Well, what I found is that meditation can be many things. It’s not only sitting down closing your eyes as the only way to clearing your thoughts out of your head – cleansing your mind, so to speak.

For example, if you practice Yoga, that is a form of meditation. Especially if you have a very good yoga instructor like I have.

So, without knowing it, I was actually meditating, when I was attending my yoga lessons at the gym. How fantastic to know that!

No wonder I felt so fabulous after 1 hour of intense yoga training and no wonder I love doing it! It’s a meditation exercise.

So, if you are doing yoga, well done!

Keep doing it, it’s one of the very best exercises, not only for your body, but also for your mind.

Another thing I learned, is that the walks I take several times a week in a small forest we have next to where I live, is ALSO a form of meditation exercise. Walking alone in nature  calms you down, clears your mind and broadens your sight.

It seems that well trimmed parks don’t have the same effect on us as wild nature does, since they are manmade. Several studies show this curious finding.

For instance, I read this amazing Japanese study on how walking among trees in a forest like setting for half an hour a day can reduce our stress levels to nearly nothing. And how people doing this have relieved themselves from stress and overwhelm.

This is exactly how I feel, when I come back from a walk like that. Calm, relaxed, positive, energized, open minded, NO stress and tunnel vision clearing up.

How incredible is that!? And it’s 100 percent free!

It usually doesn’t matter if it rains, the sun shines or it’s a grey day. The nature has the same effect –  on me least. A walk in nature has a truly, amazingly healing effect.

The same I can say about the sea. I was so lucky some time ago to live in a house by the sea and a walk on the beach and a swim in the sea had that incredible relaxing and cleansing effect. Only a swim in the sea made you feel even more refreshed physically.

So all in all, I believe that you don’t have to meditate the “traditional” way, but you can find a way that works for you, be it a walk in nature, swim in the sea, a bath, yoga or sitting in the sun.

What is important is that you take the time out of your busy schedule and do it. If not every day at least 3-4 times a week.

It will work wonders for your business in the long run, as the boost of energy you gain from these activities will strengthen you immensely.

It will nurture your vision and remember, your vision is the fuel that keeps you committed to your success. It’s your beliefs about yourself and your ability to get what you want in life.

So my advice, don’t skip that meditation step – It’s just essential!
